Magazine Front Cover Analysis (Empire and Total Film)




Total Film:
The main image consist  of two characters surrounded by fire and explosions this established the genre of the topic film which is an action film. The brightness of the image is used to grab the readers eye and make it stand out from the rest. The house style of this magazine is is red and white the main text that they aim to stand out is bold and red.The main image also establishes its target audience which will be males has research proves that men like action films more then women also males are more attracted to red  which occurs a lot on this front cover. The puffs and plugs are spread around the main image around the main image and are in bold white writing to stand out but not so much that it distracts the reader from the image.

Empire:
This cover features famous actor Daniel Radcliffe playing the role off Harry Potter which will instantly grab the readers attention has he is well known actor across the world. The house style for this is red white and blue Which really helps make the text stand out and easy to read. The text on this front cover is big and bold and once again this makes it east to read. The key words such has 'MASSIVE PREVIEW SPECIAL' are bold and in white text so they are really clear. With the image and colours it shows that the target audience is young teens. the extra information (puffs and plugs) are organised on the left hand side which makes it easier to co-ordinate.

Comparison:
Both Empire an Total Film have large headings which is there so the reader knows what magazine they are reading. The house style off them both are similar with the red and white. the puffs and plugs are arranged differently as Total Film as them surrounding the main image and Empire as them in a column down the left side.
