Fangoria magazine is a magazine that dedicates itself to the horror genre, something never really seen in mainstream magazines such as EMPIRE who are more likely to do big films such as Prometheus. The comparisons between both posters are small obvious things such as the colour of the magazine title. To tie in with the blue technological colour of Prometheus, EMPIRE is in light blue and the magazine front cover is themed with the colour light blue. Likewise, Fangoria adopts a sepia toned red to match the main image. The red is a more appealing colour and has a stronger contrast to the image, making Fangoria’s colour scheme the more logical one to choose.
The main image for both these front covers is something crucial to the plotline of the film. For Fangoria, the film featured on the front cover is a zombie film, as evidenced by the zombie on the front cover. Likewise, the front cover image for Empire is of Dr Shaw, the main character in Prometheus. Using something or someone crucial to the film as a main image is a safe idea to draw in a large audience as well as our target audience.
